“De profundis, takes its title from Psalm 130 and conjures up a profoundly meditative atmosphere via a sequence of hypnotic, ear-tweaking sonorities." (Julian Haylock, 2010). 
A contemporary of conductors such as the Mexican Alondra de la Parra and the French Arian Matiakh and Laurence Equilbey, who includes symphonic works by women in the programming of her concerts. 
Gražinytė-Tyla shares the fact that she is one of the first women to be named Music Director of major orchestras, such as Marin Alsop who made history in 2007 as the first woman to be named Music Director of a major American orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. 
Other notable contemporary directors are Alicia Farnham, founder and director of the Society of Women directors in which she offers workshops for aspiring women, or the Canadian, Bárbara Hannigan, promoter of contemporary opera.
